10x15 vs 10x25 Storage Unit

A 10x25 storage unit has 100 more square feet than a 10x15, about two-thirds more space, and holds a whole multi-bedroom house with appliances, while a 10x15 holds about three bedrooms of furniture. At AA Personal Storage in Parowan, Utah, a 10x15 (150 square feet) rents for $75 a month and a 10x25 (250 square feet) rents for $125 a month, as listed in November 2026.

The 10x15 and the 10x25 are the two most popular "whole move" sizes we rent in Parowan, and they're also the two sizes people most often ask us to compare. This guide puts them side by side with real dimensions, door sizes, and prices from our Rent page. It also answers the question we hear a lot: what about a 10x20? To see every unit we offer, check our full storage unit size guide.

What Is the Difference Between a 10x15 and a 10x25 Storage Unit?

The difference is 10 feet of depth: both units are 10 feet wide, but a 10x15 is 15 feet deep (150 square feet) and a 10x25 is 25 feet deep (250 square feet). The 10x25 gives you 100 extra square feet, which is about 67% more floor space.

Here is how the two compare at AA Personal Storage, using the specs on our Rent page in November 2026:

Feature 10x15 (9 ft ceiling) 10x15 (10 ft ceiling) 10x25

Best for A two- or three-bedroom apartment, a garage cleanout, home staging Tall stacks of boxes and bins A full house move, a home sale, a long remodel

Volume figures are simple length x width x ceiling math, so treat them as approximate. Every unit at AA Personal Storage is drive-up and ground level, and the property is paved to every unit.

How big is each one in real life?

A 10x15 is about the size of a large bedroom, or a bit more than half of a typical one-car garage. A 10x25 is closer to a full one-car garage that's a little narrower than usual (both comparisons are approximate).

How Much More Does a 10x25 Cost Than a 10x15?

At AA Personal Storage in Parowan, Utah, a 10x25 costs $50 more per month than a 10x15: $125 versus $75 (as listed in November 2026). Both sizes work out to the same 50 cents per square foot, so you're paying for space, not a premium for the bigger unit.

Rental length 10x15 at $75/mo 10x25 at $125/mo Difference
1 month $75 $125 $50
3 months $225 $375 $150
6 months $450 $750 $300
12 months $900 $1,500 $600

These totals use the monthly rates on our Rent page in November 2026 and don't include optional tenant protection or a lock. Rentals are month to month, so you only pay for the months you use.

What other costs should you plan for?

The other costs are the same for both sizes:

  • Reservation deposit: $50 holds a unit for 25 days and is credited back on your first rental invoice. If you don't move in within 25 days, it's forfeited.
  • Lock: Bring your own disc lock unless your unit already has one. A disc or cylinder lock also matters for tenant protection.
  • Tenant protection: Optional plans cover your stored belongings. See our tenant protection page for coverage levels.
  • Military discount: We offer a 10% military discount, and no proof is required.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover, and you can pay your bill online.

What About a 10x20 Storage Unit?

AA Personal Storage does not have a 10x20 unit. If you were searching for a 10x20 (200 square feet), your two closest options here are the 10x15 just below it and the 10x25 just above it. Here's how to translate size-calculator advice to our lineup:

If a calculator says 10x20 and... Choose at AA Personal Storage Why
Your load is mostly furniture and boxes, no big appliances 10x15 ($75/mo) Packed tightly with the full ceiling height, many "10x20" loads fit in 150 sq ft
You have a refrigerator, washer, or dryer 10x25 ($125/mo) Appliances can't be stacked on, so they eat floor space fast
You want an aisle to reach things at the back 10x25 ($125/mo) The extra depth leaves room to walk
You're still adding to the pile (an ongoing move or remodel) 10x25 ($125/mo) Loads tend to grow over time

Is one 10x25 better than two smaller units?

Usually, yes. One 10x25 at $125 a month gives you 250 square feet behind a single door. Renting a 10x10 ($65) and a 10x15 ($75) to get the same 250 square feet would cost $140 a month, and you'd have two units to lock, load, and visit (rates as listed in November 2026). Two units only make sense if you need to keep two loads separate, such as household goods and business inventory.

What Fits in a 10x15 vs. a 10x25?

A 10x15 fits about three bedrooms of furniture, including large items like a piano, couches, tables, or large-screen TVs. A 10x25 fits a multi-bedroom house, including the oversized pieces that fill up a 10x15 fast: a couch, a refrigerator, a washer and dryer, and a dining room set.

A 10x15 typically holds: two or three bedroom sets (beds, dressers, nightstands), a sofa or small sectional, a TV and stand, a dining table and chairs, one large appliance or a piano, and roughly 25 to 40 medium boxes. See the full list in our guide to what fits in a 10x15 storage unit.

A 10x25 typically holds: three bedroom sets, a sectional plus a recliner, a dining set, a refrigerator, a washer and dryer, a chest freezer, patio furniture, garage tools and bikes, and roughly 60 to 100 boxes. See the full list in our guide to what fits in a 10x25 storage unit.

Box and bedroom counts are estimates; how much you own matters more than the bedroom count.

Which items push people from a 10x15 to a 10x25?

Appliances and garage contents are the biggest reasons people move up to a 10x25. Here are the items that most often make the difference:

Item or need 10x15 10x25
Refrigerator, washer, and dryer together Takes a big share of the floor Fits along with the furniture
A full garage (tools, bikes, mower, yard gear) on top of the house Usually too much Usually fits
Sectional sofa plus three bedroom sets Tight Fits with room to spare
Patio furniture and a grill Often left behind Fits near the door
A walkway to reach the back Hard with a full load Easy to leave one down a side wall
Long items like ladders, lumber, or kayaks Fits if laid along a wall More length to lay them flat

What still won't fit?

Neither unit is for vehicles. Cars, trucks, boats, RVs, ATVs, and snowmobiles go in our uncovered outdoor parking instead, where a 10x30 space is $30 a month and a 12x40 space is $40 a month (November 2026). Our guide to RV parking sizes, 10x30 vs. 12x40 explains which space fits your rig.

Which Size Do You Need for Your Home?

Choose a 10x15 for a two- or three-bedroom apartment or a lightly furnished home, and a 10x25 for a full three-bedroom house with appliances, or a two-bedroom house plus its garage. Use this table as a starting point:

What you're storing Recommended size Rate (November 2026)
A two-bedroom apartment, no appliances 10x15 $75/mo
A lightly furnished three-bedroom 10x15 $75/mo
A two-bedroom house with appliances 10x15 or 10x25 $75 or $125/mo
A two-bedroom house plus a full garage 10x25 $125/mo
A typical three-bedroom house with appliances 10x25 $125/mo
A large three-bedroom or a four-bedroom house 14x20, 15x20, or 20x26 $145 to $210/mo

For a room-by-room walkthrough, see our guides to storage unit size for a 2-bedroom and storage unit size for a 3-bedroom. For smaller loads, compare the 10x10 vs. 10x15 storage unit instead.

Pick a 10x15 if...

  • You're storing a two-bedroom apartment or a lightly furnished three-bedroom.
  • You have no more than one large appliance.
  • You'll pack tightly and won't need to reach the back often.
  • You want the lowest monthly cost for a unit that holds most of a household.

Pick a 10x25 if...

  • You're emptying a whole house, including the kitchen, laundry room, and garage.
  • You have a refrigerator, washer, dryer, or freezer going in.
  • You'll visit the unit during storage and want an aisle to reach everything.
  • Your 10x15 estimate already looks tight. Running out of room on moving day usually means a second unit, and two units cost more than one 10x25.

Is It Better to Size Up or Size Down?

If your load includes appliances or garage contents, size up to the 10x25. If it's mostly furniture and boxes from an apartment, a 10x15 at $75 a month is usually enough, and it saves you $50 a month at AA Personal Storage.

Before you rent, take a few minutes to estimate:

  1. List your big pieces. Beds, sofas, dressers, tables, and appliances take up most of the floor. Boxes stack on top.
  2. Count appliances twice. You can't stack on a refrigerator or a washer, so each one uses its full footprint all the way up.
  3. Think about access. If you'll need tools, seasonal gear, or business stock while it's in storage, plan for an aisle.
  4. Think about time. Home sales and remodels tend to run long. Our posts on storage during a home renovation and staging your home to sell cover both.

Since rentals are month to month, you're not locked into a size. If needs change, call us at (435) 447-4777 to ask about moving to a different unit. Availability changes often, especially on the 10x25, so check the Rent page for open units.

How Do You Pack Each Size to Fit More?

In either size, load the heaviest and least-used items against the back wall, stand mattresses and sofas on end, and stack boxes to the ceiling. The main difference is that a 10x25 is deep enough that you should plan a walkway, or the back half becomes hard to reach.

  1. Measure tall pieces against the door. The 10x15 doors are 8.0 feet tall. The 10x25 door is 7 feet 10 inches tall and 8.0 feet wide, so check tall armoires, bookshelves, and refrigerators before moving day.
  2. Load appliances first, against the back wall. Leave fridge and freezer doors slightly open to prevent odors.
  3. Stack uniform boxes in columns. Same-size boxes and plastic bins stack higher and straighter, and the 9- or 10-foot ceilings give you a lot of height to use.
  4. In a 10x25, leave an aisle down one side from the door to the back wall.
  5. Keep what you'll need near the door, like holiday bins, ski gear for Brian Head, or the hunting gear you just cleaned. Our hunting gear storage tips cover how to store it.
  6. Use sealed plastic bins for long stays, since our drive-up units aren't climate controlled and Parowan winters get cold.
  7. Bring a light. These units don't have inside lighting, so a headlamp or lantern helps on evening visits. The property itself is lit at night, and you can visit 24/7.

For more ideas, read how to pack your storage unit for easy use.

What can't go in either unit?

The same rules apply to every enclosed unit. Our storage FAQ lists items you can't store, including gasoline, propane, paint thinner, fireworks, and other hazardous materials; explosives and ammunition; perishable food and anything that attracts pests; people, animals, and plants; wet, moldy, or leaking items; and tires unless they're on a vehicle in outdoor parking. Vehicles aren't allowed in enclosed units at all.

Frequently Asked Questions: 10x15 vs. 10x25 Storage Units

How much bigger is a 10x25 than a 10x15 storage unit?

A 10x25 has 250 square feet of floor space and a 10x15 has 150, so the 10x25 is 100 square feet, or about 67%, bigger. Both are 10 feet wide, so the 10x25 is 10 feet deeper. At AA Personal Storage in Parowan, Utah, the 10x25 has a 9-foot ceiling, for about 2,250 cubic feet.

How much is a 10x15 vs. a 10x25 storage unit in Parowan?

At AA Personal Storage in Parowan, Utah, a 10x15 costs $75 a month and a 10x25 costs $125 a month, as listed in November 2026. That's $50 more per month, or $600 more per year. Both work out to about 50 cents per square foot, and rentals are month to month.

Do you have a 10x20 storage unit?

No. AA Personal Storage in Parowan, Utah does not rent a 10x20. The closest sizes are the 10x15 at $75 a month and the 10x25 at $125 a month (November 2026). Choose the 10x15 for furniture and boxes, and the 10x25 if your load includes appliances, garage contents, or needs a walkway.

Will a 3-bedroom house fit in a 10x15 storage unit?

A lightly furnished three-bedroom can fit in a 10x15 if it's packed tightly, because our Rent page lists the 10x15 as holding three full bedrooms plus items like a piano or couches. A typical three-bedroom house with a refrigerator, washer, dryer, and garage gear usually needs a 10x25 instead.

Can I fit a washer, dryer, and refrigerator in a 10x15?

Yes, they physically fit through the 10x15's roll-up door, which is 8.0 feet tall. But three appliances take a big share of the 150-square-foot floor, leaving less room for furniture. If you're storing appliances plus a full household, a 10x25 at AA Personal Storage in Parowan, Utah is usually the better fit.

Can I switch from a 10x15 to a 10x25 later?

Rentals at AA Personal Storage in Parowan, Utah are month to month, so there's no long-term contract keeping you in one size. If you need more or less room, call (435) 447-4777 to ask about moving to a different unit. Availability changes, so check the Rent page for open 10x15 and 10x25 units.
